What we do

Bigman Geophysical specializes in assessing and modeling the subsurface world using only totally non-destructive technologies. Investigations cover a tremendous array of fields of specialty, from civil engineering and forensic structural analysis to archaeological exploration and soil contamination studies, and many more. We offer top of the line service with teams of highly trained operators and expert analysts. We also provide equipment and train companies and organizations around the world in the use of those technologies.

Our Founder

Dr. Daniel Bigman, CEO

While recognized internationally as expert geophysicist, Dan has a reputation as a down-to-earth approachable teacher, and he is just as comfortable with a crew on a worksite as he is before a panel of scientists. Drawing from his background as a college professor, Dan's passion has always been teaching. He inspires his team and his customers alike to engage problems with a bold, yet scientific approach that focuses on using non-destructive technology and logic to make well informed decisions.

Dr. Sean McConnel

Senior Project Manager​

With a background in Archaeology, Sean has a passion for exploration and mapping the underground world. He is a recognized expert in non-destructive technology and frequently manages engineering, forensic, environmental, and archaeological projects with an incredible rate of success. His current research focuses on Scan-to-BIM technology and the application of automated software and robotics. 

Jeff Guarnera, VP of Sales

Jeff is a strategic visionary who scales small to large-scale projects for clients by utilizing his 25+ years of management and high-end consulting experience. Jeff prioritizes long term customer success over short- term transactions. He first understands a client's business, then identifies their unique challenges, and guides them toward the right solutions, not simply the most expensive ones. Jeff has a reputation for building trust and delivering sustainable value. Jeff doesn't just see a solution to your problem; he sees several, and he can price them to suit your budget.

With a background in the Geotechnical and Geological industry, Meiling has deep familiarity with soil horizons, void spaces, and targets of concern for many engineering interests. Known for her upbeat yet thoughtful demeanor, she has become a cornerstone for reliable insights on challenging projects.

Felicia Smith serves as the Human Resources Manager at Bigman Geophysical. She earned her degree from Morris Brown College and has applied her education and leadership skills to foster a positive, productive workplace culture. Felicia has led several impactful initiatives including the implementation of a company-wide employee engagement program that significantly improved retention and morale. Her strategic approach to organizational development has supported the company's growth while ensuring employees feel valued and empowered. 

Benjamin White
Business Development Specialist

Ben is a results-driven Technical Sales Specialist at Bigman Geophysical, focused on bridging the gap between cutting-edge geophysical technology and client success. Leveraging a an intuitive understanding of subsurface imaging and data analysis, Ben works to provide clients with tailored solutions that drive efficiency and profitability.

Sherrie Gearheart, Marketing Director

Sherrie brings a unique blend of business marketing acumen and heart to the team, grounded in over ten years of experience leading a suicide prevention charity. Known for her composure amidst rapid changes, she specializes in managing the unmanageable. Sherrie possesses a near-magical ability to take complicated logistics and transform them into seamless, smooth-running operations.

Andre Middleton, Trainer/Operator

A specialist in damage prevention and non-destructive testing, Andre serves as both a Trainer/Operator and a mentor to the next generation of technicians. With over five years of field experience, he has cultivated deep expertise in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and the practical application of advanced detection equipment. Andre extends his technical versatility beyond standard utilities, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in archaeological and environmental surveys. 

Orlando Heaven, Trainer/Operator

As a seasoned Trainer/Operator with over five years of dedicated experience, Orlando is a recognized expert in damage prevention and non-destructive testing. He not only performs complex Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) but is also responsible for training field staff in the advanced use of detection technology. His expertise spans a wide range of specialized equipment, including electromagnetic sensors, ground-penetrating radar, ultrasonic pulse-echo, magnetic gradiometry, and electromagnetic induction.
